Sacred Responsibility, Obligation, and Design

Family is the unique and exclusive institution created by God for the creation, care, and protection of children. God established the family and entrusted parents with the responsibility to nurture their children and teach them His truth (Deuteronomy 6:6–7; Ephesians 6:4). That calling deserves respect, protection, and support. Likewise, all of human history testifies to the primacy of the biblical design for family, and the social and legal imperative to “get family right.”

With children at the heart of family, we acknowledge that children have a natural right to their mother and father. This universal right is of the highest moral and social order and thus makes the family unit the preeminent institution for the protection of children.

Healthy families contribute to the well-being of the entire community. They nurture children, care for aging relatives, support vulnerable members, and pass wisdom and responsibility from one generation to the next.

Government should respect the family’s essential role and the primary responsibility of parents to direct their children’s upbringing and education. Public policy should strengthen families, protect children from abuse and exploitation, and help parents fulfill their responsibilities.

Florida Family Voice works to advance policies that uphold parental rights, protect children, and strengthen family life. By equipping the Church and bringing a biblical perspective to public policy, we seek a Florida where families are celebrated, parents are supported, and children have the opportunity to flourish.
