(Orlando, Florida) The Florida Family Policy Council and The Central Florida Tea Party Coalition will be co-sponsoring a debate forum for the major candidates in the U.S. Senate Republican primary race on Saturday, August 20, 2011, from 10:00 a.m to 12 noon in the historic Howard Middle School Auditorium located at 800 East Robinson Street in Downtown Orlando.  The winner of the Republican primary will go on to challenge Florida’s incumbent Democrat U.S. Senator Bill Nelson in the 2012 general election. 

The confirmed candidates attending the event are Adam Hasner, George LeMieux, Mike McCallister, and Craig Miller.  The debate will feature social issue and economic issues.  Candidates will be questioned by two panels of citizen activists. The first panel will be social conservative leaders.  The second panel will be leading tea party activists in Central Florida. The debate will be moderated by Keith Landry of Local Fox 35 News in Orlando. Names and bios of the panelists and the moderator can be found HERE:  

The event is open to the public and there is no charge but seating will be provided on a first come, first served basis.  Special seating for the news media will be provided in the balcony with a press mult box and multiple electrical outlets.  Media credentials can be picked up at registration desk on arrival.
